We work proudly alongside some of the biggest names from remarkable industries around the world.
Fairgrieve Compression Moulding is aiming to reach new heights as it builds on a successful first quarter of 2025 with significant interest from customers in the aerospace industry offering the potential for further liftoff on orders.
The business has already enjoyed a healthy start to the year with a number of new product orders secured, and having already seen its work rewarded with a night at the Business Insider Made in North East Awards.
Now, with his flexible workforce willing and able to step-up to 24 hour production demand, Managing Director Barry Davidson believes increasing interest from the aerospace industry offers the business its next area of growth.
“Since I arrived at the business back in 2021, I’ve been keen to make sure that we have used our expertise to develop high-performance products for customers – products which benefit from the unique properties that compression moulding offers together with our expertise” he said.
“We’ve previously completed sizeable orders for the aerospace industry, and have proved ourselves able to meet the strict demands of the industry, and the specification of components whilst delivering first-class products”.
“I’m pleased to say that we’re taking enquiries from within this sector for specialist, high-performance parts, so I’m confident that this is an area of our business that we can now expand upon.”
Focus on product development
Over the past four years, Fairgrieves has transformed its reputation and approach towards product development.
Mr Davidson claims that a ‘partnership’ approach is key in the aerospace sector, given the demand for precision made products that are produced with full traceability.
“The materials we use in the compression molding process provide excellent strength while remaining lightweight, which of course is crucial for aircraft,” said Mr Davidson.
“There is also the need for high dimensional accuracy on all components, which require tight tolerances. Again, our processes allows us to manufacture intricate shapes of uniform thickness, and the materials used can withstand extreme temperatures.”
Products proven for strength, durability and reliability
“People turn to us because our products can be relied upon in the harshest of environments, and because they know they need their product to withstand intense pressures and pass the ultimate test in strength, durability and reliability,” added Mr Davidson.
“Compression Moulding is a process that produces products able to stand the test of time, as, due to their excellent thermal stability, they maintain their structural integrity and mechanical properties, withstanding both high and low temperatures.
“There are few compression moulding specialists like us around these days, and I doubt there are any with the experience and knowledge of our team, and that is why we are seeing new enquires come to our door week after week.
“We’ve developed a great knowledge over the past couple of years thanks to the work we have done with customers in the aerospace and defense sector so I believe the sky’s the limit for us in this area of manufacturing.”
