Membership of British Plastics Federation specialist moulders group confirmed

Fairgrieve Compression Moulding is delighted to have been accepted onto the British Plastics Federation’s (BPF) specialist Moulders & Specialist Processors members group.

The group is one of the largest operating within the BPF, the world’s longest running plastics trade association which was established in 1933 and has represented and promoted the UK plastics industry ever since.

With a focus on supporting UK-based moulders and specialist processors, membership opens potential doors to potentially work on collaborative initiatives with other member companies and share best practice.

Benefits also come through support of the BPF, which has more than 450 member companies spanning the entire plastics supply chain, as it liaises closely with Government departments on a range of issues affecting the industry.

Barry Davidson, General Manager at Fairgrieve Compression Moulding, says the membership is the latest important step for the company as it seeks to build on a history stretching back more than 100 years.

“One of the key aspects to be successful in any form of business is to ensure you fully understand what is happening in your industry and to be aware of market changes which can impact on your business and the demand for your products,” he said.

“Being part of the BPF is important to us in that respect, as is being part of the Moulders and Specialist Processors Group, which has been the largest and one of the most active groups within the Federation for many years.

“Benefits include support with sales leads, which the group collectively delivers to members directly, support in benchmarking performance against others within the industry and access to potential international opportunities through overseas tours of injection moulding facilities and also trips to trade shows.”

Investment from new owner driving up efficiencies, standards and product development

Exclusive access to European bodies is also a benefit to members, with the BPF regularly attending meetings of European plastic converters, safeguarding UK interests, extending a lobbying presence in Europe and gathering vital information.

In a significant year for Fairgrieve Compression Moulding, significant investment from new owner Daniel Beaumont has helped drive up efficiencies and standards. The business secured the internationally recognised ISO 9001 standard, demonstrating its continuing commitment to improvement and the highest standards of management and customer satisfaction.

New products are also being developed, with a lighter and more cost-effective plastic starch tray set to be launched to the confectionary industry at the 2022 ProSweets Cologne Exhibition in January.

The BPF specialist Moulders & Specialist Processors Group consists of both contract moulders and in-house moulding companies. In order to be eligible to join the Group, companies must have been operational for a minimum of two years and companies must be moulding or processing polymer within the UK.
