High standards recognised by ISO 9001 quality management accreditation

Fairgrieve Compression Moulding is delighted to have again secured the internationally recognised ISO 9001 standard which demonstrates a continuing commitment to improvement and the highest standards of management and customer satisfaction.

Following an audit carried out in July 2021 at our factory and offices in Washington, Tyne and Wear, significant recent investment into the business, the development of training programmes for staff and increased marketing activity was recognised.

Plans for future improvements outlined by our management team were also welcomed as the global benchmark, which sets out the steps required to adopt and implement a quality management system, was awarded.

ISO 9001 is designed to help businesses ensure they meet the needs and expectations of both customers and other interested parties, based on internationally recognised quality management principles set out by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

General Manager Barry Davidson is delighted to retain the accreditation and to be praised by auditors for improvements made across the business in recent months together with his plans for the future.

He said: “The auditors recognised that we have introduced significant improvements to the training records in recent times and that more recently we have developed a number of skills matrices to better match our employees to the product ranges, machinery and processes they are assigned to.

“This will allow us greater flexibility of the workforce in the future to be able to better serve our customers.

“The auditors were also interested in the work we have been doing to realign our product prices to reflect the current market, which will have a positive impact on our profitability.

“We also set out to them our plans to implement further continuous improvement initiatives whilst encouraging teamwork and participation of our workforce to improve products, processes and ultimately profitability which was also well received.”

New investment recognised by auditors

Following the purchase of the business by new owner Daniel Beaumont in May, a modern new company branding was launched alongside a new website which enables customers to upload their designs to be considered by the Fairgrieve team with regards to mould production.

“The auditors recognised that as a business we are not standing still and we are benefitting from Daniel’s investment and my job is to lead the company into a new era,” added Mr Davidson.

“We will never lose sight of our history – it’s what the business is built upon, but at the same time you have to continually invest and improve, and also demonstrate how you are doing that to those outside of the business.

“ISO 9001 is very important to us as it is a standard which brings reassurance of quality to our customers, and is something they look for when choosing a compression moulding specialist like Fairgrieves.

“We will never be in the business of simply acquiring accreditations though. Our long-term vision is to grow the company through new processes, innovative design and new products which stand out in our industry. ISO 9001 helps us in that process.

“We are currently working on a new moulding innovation which we feel will be very exciting and will be sharing news on that very soon.”
