We work proudly alongside some of the biggest names from remarkable industries around the world.
Fairgrieve Compression Moulding is to produce 1,000 of its industry-leading firewall brackets a day to meet the requirements of a new contract to supply the highly-acclaimed product to the construction sector.
The contract, for which production is set to start next month, comes on the back of repeated industry recognition for the product.
Specifically designed, developed and manufactured to help improve fire safety within new developments, the company’s Matrix Firewall Bracket Base is capable of withstanding intense heat, fire and smoke for up to two hours.
Fairgrieve’s work in developing and bringing the product to market was hailed at various engineering, manufacturing and business awards in 2024, recognising its innovation, and its ability to help save lives in the event of fire.
It was also named in the British Plastic Federation’s list of the Top 15 Plastic Innovations of 2024.
Now, another large order for the product has been secured, and managing director Barry Davidson says the company is expecting more to follow throughout 2025.
“This is a product which businesses working in the construction sector now seem have become very aware of. We are getting lots of enquiries, and customers are coming to us to find out more,” he said.
“This is a product we are immensely proud of here. Firstly because of its purpose and impact, which is to make buildings safer and provide occupants with more escape time in the event of a fire evacuation.
“Secondly, we take great pride in how it came to be. It was a long time in development and is a product which benefits from being compression moulded, as materials with high fire resistance are used in its formation and can therefore withstand high temperatures whilst maintaining their structural integrity, even under intense heat conditions.”
‘A proven product in the construction sector’
Fairgrieves developed the product by working in partnership with a long established customer and a specialist raw material supplier.
It saw a new raw material produced, which took many months of research and development, with the team at Fairgrieves carrying out extensive work to ensure it could be manufactured in the most efficient manner, before being put through the most rigorous testing.
Modifications were then made to deliver further cost savings, including reducing the amount of material used on each bracket brace, and also improving the manufacturing process to increase the speed of production.
“This is a product for which we have now perfected our production process, which obviously brings major benefits to customers,” said Mr Davidson.
“It is now a proven product, used in its thousands in the construction sector, and for which we have had repeat orders from leading construction companies.
“We’ve recently provided samples for testing to a number of other potential new customers, and we expect more orders to follow, which, due to our knowledge of the product, the efficient production process we have developed, and the flexibility of our team, we are able and ready to meet.”
Fairgrieve Compression Moulding was named winner of the 2024 North East Business Awards in the ‘Made in the North East’ innovation category, for which the Matrix Firewall Bracket Base was recognised.
