Local, regional and national recognition for business and staff at prestigious awards events

At Fairgrieve Compression Moulding we have a reputation as innovators within our sector – always seeking continuous improvement to ensure we meet the highest standards of research, product development and manufacturing.

In recent years, our achievements have won recognition at local, regional and national award events – both for the company as a whole, and members of our fantastic team.

Recent successes include:

The North East Business Awards
We were winners of the ‘Made in the North East’ category in 2024, recognition of how our business has, for more than 100 years, been a fantastic ambassador for manufacturing in the North East to a worldwide market, and continues to be so today.

We were crowned the Small Business of the Year in the North East in 2023, recognition of a fantastic 18-month period of transformation and success, which resulted in a 50% increase in orders across the business compared to the previous year.

In 2025, we were again named as finalists in the Small Business of the Year category, and managing director Barry Davidson was a finalist in the Business Person of the Year category

Make UK Awards
We were recognised in the Innovation Category in the North East, Yorkshire & Humberside region of the 2024 Make UK Awards for our innovative product development.

Engineering and Manufacturing Awards
Our team were shortlisted in this national awards event in 2024 in the Design Team category, in relation to how we worked in partnership with customers and compound solutions specialists to develop our Matrix Firewall Bracket Base, which was specifically designed, developed and manufactured to help improve fire safety within new construction developments.

Our team were Highly Commended in the 2023 Manufacturing Productivity Improvement category, which recognised businesses for making ‘a demonstrable improvement to their productivity’. Finalists were also chosen for helping UK manufacturing continue to improve processes and compete on the global stage.

The Manufacturer Top 100
General Manager Barry Davidson was named in The Manufacturer Top 100 list for 2024 – a prestigious list of the Top 100 people in UK manufacturing, identifying the most dynamic leaders and innovators in manufacturing. The list is judged by a panel of industry leaders, academics and manufacturing associations.

Manufacturing Awards – Best Leadership
Managing Director Barry Davidson was awarded the 2024 Best Leadership accolade. The award recognised his ‘exceptional leadership qualities’ and for ‘inspiring and guiding their team to achieve excellence, fostering a positive work culture, and driving success in the industry.’

Plastics Industry Awards
Production Manager Johnathon Hutchinson was recognised in 2024 as an ‘unsung hero’ in a category which recognises members of staff ‘who always go out of their way for their business.’

Our Matrix Firewall Bracket Base, which is capable of withstanding intense heat, fire, and smoke for up to two hours and is being used in its thousands in the construction industry to improve the fire resistance of new buildings, was named in the British Plastic Federation’s list of the Top 15 Plastic Innovations of 2024.
